The black trim transformed this house from an old colonial to a modern space. Keeping the walls white allowed for a clean finish and backdrop for art. The textured wallpaper and roman shade give the space a whimsical touch.

Where are the Speakers?

Speakers are my worst nightmare when designing a family room space. These were hidden in a stack of books to not stand out.

Quick Fix Fireplace

This fireplace was made to feel modern and fresh by painting the mantel black and the red brick white.

This was the perfect corner for a pair of chairs. Great for conversation and the windows gave a great view.

A powder room is a great place to add wallpaper. It's a small space but can have big impact.

A Mini Makover

This bathroom was not able to be completely overhauled but it's amazing what some paint, new hardware and new light fixture can do.

This room is fun and bright but not overly themed. It's a fun, mature look that can be used for many years.

For the overall size of the house this kids room was huge. A nice big bed centers it with fun wall decor and great bedding.

Martha is our beloved first house in Reston, VA. Set on a picturesque street. A beautiful colonial. She was not large in size but made up for it in curb appeal and detail. When we purchased the house it was decorated in classic colonial colors (blue trim) and we transformed her into a modern day colonial with tons of personality. Her renovations included a family room, dining room, living room, kitchen, powder room, bedrooms, and basement. Every light fixture was switched and every surface painted. Door hardware was switched and wallpaper was used for a pop of pattern and texture. It took several months of planning and implementation but she was worth all the hard work.
